Role in shaping environmental attitudes and environmental behavior of power consumption (Case study: Gorgan)

Abstract

The aim of the present study is  the investigation of the relationship between environmental  attitudes (in both general and specific energy) and environmental behavior (energy consumption)  at home. The study – used  survey method and 382 household was selected as sample by applying cluster sampling method. Questionnaire was used to collect the required data. Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS) was used to process and analyze data. The results of descriptive statistics showed that the respondents have a relatively high level of environmental attitude (3/40 from 5). The behavior of the environment (energy consumption) at a high level (2/98 from 4) The activities seeking energy savings are accurate. Results showed that the Pearson correlation between environmental attitudes of people in both the dependent variable (the behavior of the environment - energy use), there is a significant relationship.
