[English]

Societies' complexity and the ever-increasing acceleration of change in life necessitate societies to focus on ICT. The rural sector can provide further development with the use of this technology due to its wide-ranging capabilities and benefits in terms of production potential and product diversification. This research was carried out with the aim of assessing the status and impact of information technology and communication on the promotion of environmental indicators. This research is applied in terms of purpose and is descriptive-analytic in nature. The statistical population of this study is 22 villages of Hassan Abad rural district in the central part of Islamabad city of West with the population of 8783 people. The sample size was estimated to be 370 people based on the Cochran formula. The distribution of sample numbers in villages was proportional to their populations and the selection of samples in the villages was randomly systematic. In order to analyze the subject, we used five indicators of information technology and communication technology in the form of 37 items and three environmental indicators in the form of 25 items. The questionnaire was designed with closed questions in the form of a five-point Likert spectrum. The reliability of the questionnaire was 90% based on Cronbach's alpha. Shannon entropy, topsis, and multivariate regression were used to analyze the data. The results of the topsis technique indicate that the studied area is on the medium level in terms of the indicators. On the other hand, the results of multivariate regression showed that ICT has had a positive impact on the promotion of environmental indicators. And the effect index on villagers' knowledge and information with the beta coefficient of 0.852 had the greatest impact on environmental indicators. And 0.531 of the variance of environmental indicators are explained through the components of this component. Also, economic effects have the least effect, and only 0.122 of the total variance is explained.
